The Countrywide Great Tour

The Countrywide Great Tour is a new epic cycling event, which will draw upon its participant's sense of adventure, grit and sheer determination - all in the name of charity!

The Countrywide Great Tour is Britain’s ultimate cycling challenge and, as lead sponsor of this event, Countrywide Plc will be playing an important role in fundraising for a number of worthy causes including, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Alzheimers Society.

The event is a 6,800 kilometre cycle ride over 64 consecutive days around the coastline of Britain, the tour which starts on the 4th July and finishes on the 5th September, will bypass a number of Countrywide’s estate and letting agents along the route.

A number of Countrywide employees are taking part in the cycle ride and various fundraising activities are being organised by a wide range of Countrywide brands throughout the UK.

The opening stage departs from Holyhead, with a clockwise circumnavigation of approximately 100km per day (subject to location), that takes in every seaside town, city and coastal village mainland Britain has to offer.

The Countrywide Great Tour is being held in tandem with CTC, the National Cycling Charity, who are the experts in helping and supporting thousands of everyday cyclists to realise the joys and benefits of cycling. CTC are supporting the riders with trained ride leaders, insurance and a membership package.

Commenting on the Group’s involvement in The Countrywide Great Tour, Alison Platt, CEO said:

"We are thrilled to support The Great Tour as lead sponsor and are very pleased to strengthen our involvement in supporting the local communities all along the route. We were particularly struck by the opportunity to develop extensive charitable support and as a national organisation thought that we could support the Great Tour around the entire country."
